This was how I defined being a good girl when I was growing up in the 60's. These are some of the things that I could not do if I wanted to be a good girl. Some of these seem silly to me now. Most are things I still wouldn't do, but don't define goodness or badness to me. I wonder how the youth of today would finish the sentence. "A good girl doesn't........."
Here's what I think today. None of these acts would make a person either good or bad. Some of these things are bad for you....... like smoking or drinking excessively. Some of these things make your life a bit more difficult, like having a baby or having large visible tattoos. It's one more hurdle to jump to get a good job. But none of these things make you a good person or a bad person. Good people sometimes make bad decisions that make their lives more difficult. But that doesn't make that person bad.
